I very much enjoyed Jeremy Wade's performance at EMPAC on Friday night. I really appreciated the non verbal interaction with the performer and the audience. It was interesting to watch the performance, due to the fact I have never seen that kind of performance art. This performance made me appreciate the underlying ideas of the performance as to oppose to the aesthetically value. It did not seem like Japanese art, because it showed and talked about homosexuality, diversity, religion, politics, sexuality and other aspects of American culture. The lighting, color and stage aspects of the performance seemed to be really thought out too. The colors were more "American", (red, white and blue). The minimal objects on the stage was also an important factor, so the audience could pay more attention to the performer. The performance seemed to be geared very directly towards the audience, especially in the beginning. It was quickly direct, and I enjoyed that. It was sharp and to the point. The building in itself was also amazing! I enjoyed walking around and exploring the architecture of the place. When first getting there my girlfriend and I watched a movie on the bean bag upstairs and also ate a lot of food that was free to try. It was exciting to get a taste of some Japanese culture before the performance. Overall, I enjoyed the performance, and would love to see more Japanese performance art.
1) Editing or montage "for creating fake realities" (Pg. 3, xvii)2) Computer Programming - Using the right equipped programs to edit, cut and finalize finished film is important to have the audience understand what you are portraying. 3) Time - It all depends on what kind of film and media you are working with. Timing is also important for how much and how long you want your audience to get out of it.4) Directing - In any kind of media, the Director serves a crucial part in making sure what goes where, what to shoot, who, why, and to "pry an object from its shell." (Pg. xx, 172)5) Digital compositing6) Operating systems 7) High level programming language8) Spatial montage9) Risks - Taking risks with media and trying new things with new technology serves an important purpose. The impact with risk taking lets others with similar ideas or new ideas create something when the barriers are broken. I believe taking risks is a great way to build confidence and makes the learning experience a good way to critique and improve for next time. 10) Modernization - "Vertov's goal is to seduce us into his way of seeing and thinking, to make us share his excitement, as he discovers a new language for film."

Justine Cooper is a artist who practices in sculpture, video, installations, photography, painting and new technology.
I researched about Cooper after I discovered she was affiliated with ANAT (Australian Network for Art and Technology).
In her video called Moist, I was drawn to the way she captures my attention. The video excerpt I watched is soothing and calming. Cooper used blood, phloem, pus, cervical mucus and tears to create this video.
I think it is interesting how she used technology and new media to collect photographs of the human body from within to exploit to the audience.
